FAQ
1. What are stem cells? What are the characteristics?
Stem cells are a kind of cells with self-replication and multi-directional differentiation potential (refers to the ability to differentiate into many types of cells), under certain conditions, it can differentiate into multiple functional cells. It has the functions of self-replication, multi-directional differentiation and secretion of various active factors, which can repair and adjust the body’s tissues.
2. Which kind of stem cells are you transplanting? Where do the cells come from?
The stem cells type we’re using is umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells from new born baby.
3. Are the stem cells safe? Will it cause a tumor? Do they need a match?
The safety of stem cells transplantation depends on two important aspects:
At first, the safety of the cell itself, mesenchymal stem cells are the most well-known stem cells to date. Through our clinical research and current treatment experience, mesenchymal stem cells are the most safe type which has no risk of antigenicity and tumorigenicity. To date, we have treated more than 16,000 patients with many diseases, not a single case has been discovered as cancer caused by stem cell transplantation.
Secondly, our stem cells are from China’s largest stem cells laboratory and the screening criteria for donors are extremely strict. So you don’t have to worry about this. Mesenchymal stem cells do not need to be matched before transplantation because of their extremely low antigenicity.(this is different from hematopoietic stem cells).
4. How long does it take to observe the effect after stem cells transplantation? How about the long-term effect?
The treatment effect varies from person to person. Different physiques, sensitivities, and needs will be different. Generally, the effect can be seen after one month, and some will be longer. Different diseases have different long-term effects. Simply, for non-progressive diseases, such as cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, brain trauma, cerebral hemorrhage, etc., long-term results are satisfactory with no rebound; and for progressive disease, such as multiple system atrophy and motor neuron disease, long-term efficacy is not ideal, and the symptoms may gradually decrease with time.
5. What diseases can you treat? What kind of person can’t do stem cell treatment? How do I know if I am suitable for treatment?
Stem cells are mainly for central nervous system diseases, the diseases we currently can treat including but not limit are cerebral palsy, sequelae of spinal cord injury, sequelae of brain injury, encephalitis sequelae, multiple system atrophy, Parkinson’s disease, sequelae of central nervous system injury caused by food or drug poisoning, dementia, motor neuron disease, autism and other neurological diseases.
Exclusion criteria for stem cell treatment:
1) The vital signs of shock or systemic exhaustion;
2) Uncontrollable infectious diseases such as AIDS, syphilis, etc.;
3) Those who have a history of severe allergies, as well as those who are allergic to cell preparations;
4) Systemic infection or severe local infection;
5) Severe dysfunction of important organs such as heart, lung, liver and kidney;
6) Coagulopathy such as hemophilia;
7) Pregnant and lactating women; 8) Other diseases that doctors think are not suitable.
8) Other diseases that doctors think are not suitable.
6. How many days does a round treatment take? How many injections during one round treatment?
According to patient condition, one round treatment duration is slightly different, ranging from 10 to 15 days. Each patient receives approximately 2-4 times injections during a course.
7. Can stem cell transplantation cure cerebral palsy? Is epilepsy patient acceptable?
Stem cells transplantation has achieved therapeutic objectives through the repair, reconstruction and functional recovery of damaged brain tissue. Since stem cells can only repair damaged brain tissue rather than cure, it only improves the brain nerve function of the patient on the basis of the original disease. Patients with epilepsy can be treated and their seizures can be reduced or eliminated after treatment.
8. When is the best time to do stem cells transplantation after spinal cord injury? Can one round treatment be cured?
Generally, stem cells transplantation can be considered after an acute period about one month after the injury. From our clinical treatment, the sooner the better. It has been reported in the literature that stem cells transplantation can be performed two weeks after injury or surgery. For patients with severe spinal cord injury, it may need 3-4 courses to achieve better results.
9. Can stem cells transplantation cure diabetes? Can I get rid of insulin after treatment?
Stem cells transplantation can relieve diabetes, but it can not be cured. Its greatest advantage is that it can repair existing damaged tissues and organs by repairing damaged tissues and promoting blood vessel regeneration. The patients we treated had reduced dependence on insulin or some patients may totally stop using insulin after treatment.
10. How is stem cell transplantation effect in treating stroke?
According to our clinical experience, the length of onset, the severity of cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage, and the health of other vital organs, all have an effect on the treatment effect. Among the patients we have treated, the longest history was 14 years. Generally, the earlier the treatment after the onset, the more obvious the effect. Most patients have a certain degree of improvement during hospitalization, which is to reduce muscle tone, improve muscle strength and blood circulation of limbs and enhance speech ability.
11. What are the transplant methods for your treatment? Does it hurt?
Our current transplantation methods include: intravenous injection, lumbar puncture, CT-guided intraspinal stem cell transplantation, and interventional transplantation. Depending on the method of transplantation, such as intravenous infusion, there is almost no pain and no need for anesthesia.
12. Are stem cells transplantation dangerous? Is there any adverse reaction?
Strictly speaking, there is a certain risk in any medical operation, the same as stem cells transplantation. However, there have been no serious adverse reactions among the 16,000 patients we have treated. A small number of patients may have transient fever, headache and other reactions self after transplantation, but it will self-resolved within 2-3 days.
13. How long does it take to leave the hospital after treatment? How long can I accept rehabilitation?
Generally, patient could go back home after 1-2 days rest. We recommend that patient could do rehabilitation about two weeks after surgery.
14. Who is responsible to check the medical information we provide?
Our hospital medical consultant team is responsible for reports collecting. They all be sent to our experts for review. Generally, our experts will give detailed assessment report and treatment plan within 1-3 working days.
15. Are stem cells transplantation helpful for male sexual function?
Stem cells have a certain effect on male sexual function. Specifically, the erection time is prolonged, the hardness is increased, and the ejaculation time is delayed.
16. What rehabilitation programs are there in your rehabilitation center?
The rehabilitation center has a beautiful environment and advanced rehabilitation equipment. We provide physical therapy (occupational therapy, spectrum therapy, low frequency therapy, wax therapy, air pressure, etc.) and traditional Chinese medicine programs (acupuncture, massage, moxibustion, etc.).
17. Please tell me more about the inpatient ward. Is there a Wifi?
