Mrs. Li is from Suzhou city, Jiangsu Province of China. She described her symptoms as follow: “One day in early July, last year, I felt that my knees were swollen, numb and painful, especially the left knee. When I got back home and lay down at night, the whole area of my knees to thighs were numb, almost like I couldn’t feel them.”
Then she went to local hospital and the X ray showed that her lumbar vertebra and knees were normal, no fracture at all. She used analgesic plaster and oral painkillers, however, the symptoms did not relief after one month. She did reexamination by MRI.
Diagnosis
Mrs. Li was recommended to our hospital, and her MRI shows: left knee in position, mottling abnormal sign in anterior horn of the lateral meniscus, high signal intensity on T1W1 and fat-suppression, abnormal sign stopped spreading before meniscus surface, no abnormal sign on the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, ligaments continuity intact, a few fluid signs can be seen in left knee joint capsule, no abnormality in the rest area. The final diagnosis was “gonitis”.
Therapeutic efficacy after stem cell treatment Mrs. Li did MRI for reexamination one and a half months later, which indicates no abnormal signal in knee joints, and symptoms such as knee pain and numbness obviously relieved. She received great recovery and can almost freely move around now.
